TABC Seller Training for Texas Servers

How Texas TABC certification works: Texas TABC seller/server certification is training offered through TABC-approved seller/server schools. We offer online TABC seller training and a path to seller/server certification. We are not the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. For current rules, Safe Harbor, and Certificate Inquiry, see the official TABC certification pages.

"TABC seller training" and "seller/server training" both point at the same Texas program: a course that prepares people who sell or serve alcohol to follow Texas rules and intervene when a sale should not happen.

Seller vs server roles

TABC's public retailer FAQ defines an employee in this context as someone who sells, serves, dispenses, or delivers alcoholic beverages under a license or permit, including people who immediately manage, direct, supervise, or control that sale or service. In practice that covers bartenders, wait staff, many cashiers, and their immediate managers when employers use Safe Harbor.

Topics the course teaches

Expect Texas alcohol sales law and responsible service techniques, including how to refuse or interrupt sales involving minors or intoxicated customers. Exact modules depend on the approved school software. Do not expect exam answer keys from us. We do not provide them.

Online seller training

Most people take seller/server training online. Public TABC copy often describes completion in about two hours. You still need to pass the course exam and keep proof of certification. Details: TABC certification online.

Managers and immediate supervisors

If you manage people who sell or serve alcohol, your employer may require your certification too, especially when aiming for Safe Harbor. See for employers.
